Unfair Hiring Practices

In Ontario, it is illegal for employers to discriminate against potential job applicants on the basis of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, family status, disability, or conviction for which a pardon has been granted. It is also illegal for employers to ask applicants questions about their race, religion, or other characteristics unrelated to the job. Additionally, employers should not make assumptions about the abilities of applicants based on their age, gender, or other characteristics unrelated to the job.
