Workplace harassment and violence are prohibited by law in Ontario. The Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code provide protection against harassment and violence in the workplace.
Employers must take steps to protect workers from harassment and violence in the workplace, including providing a harassment and violence prevention program. Employers must also provide information and instruction to workers on the policy and program, as well as other measures taken to protect workers from harassment and violence in the workplace.
Employers must also investigate any incidents of workplace harassment or violence and take corrective action, including disciplinary action, if necessary.
Employees also have a responsibility to report any incidents of workplace harassment or violence to their employer.
